Building Well Being through Library Books Project
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our library enhancement project, which focused on expanding our mental health resources for elementary students and their families. As part of this initiative, over 80 new titles were added to the collection, addressing key topics such as stress management, anxiety, depression, self-care, and resilience.
A core goal of the project was to ensure inclusivity and representation. The newly acquired books feature works by authors and illustrators from marginalized communities, including individuals who are LGBTQ2+, differently abled, and from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. These age-appropriate stories and informational texts are designed to encourage open discussions, build empathy, and provide accessible support for young readers and their families.
This enriched collection serves as a valuable tool for fostering emotional well-being, understanding, and connection within our school community.
This project was made possible through the generous support of the Halton Learning Foundation, a charitable organization that works to remove financial barriers to learning for students in the Halton District School Board. HLF receives funding through donations from individuals, community groups, local businesses, and corporate sponsors who are committed to helping all students reach their full potential. These contributions directly support programs and resources that enhance student well-being, equity, and educational success across Halton schools.
